OUR AMERICAN LEGION POST 501 WILL CELEBRATE AGAIN THE SUPER BOWL GAME
Follow up to the 2018 Super Bowl Post 501 Party Time. We had a fun time again for our 2nd celebration of the Super Bowl extravaganza. This year we had 16 friendly folks shared good times, tail gate rations, watch the multi million dollar advertisements, play cribbage, talk about those who didn't show up, and some of us even watched the game itself. With out our Packers in the game, the quarterly scores were only interesting to those who pur their hard earned cash down of scoring. Based on the turn out this year, we're quite sure that the Post 501 Super Bowl Party for 2019 will kick off as scheduled. Put February ?, 2018 on your calendar for a fun time at the Legion Post 501 clubhouse in celebration of the Super Bowl (maybe, with a bit of luck, the Packers will be in). Share an afternoon with all fellow veterans, Active Duty, Guard, and Reserve service persons, and their families, are all welcome. We'll start at about 4:00 pm; Kickoff may be scheduled for 5:30 PM. We'll stay until the game ends.
We'll have card games, a 50-50 drawing, betting on end of each quarter scoring with pull tabs and even a score sheet for some of the better new advertisements trying to entice us to buy stuff. There will be copious quantities of liquid libations, to include soda - a donation for these will be appreciated. In addition, we will have tailgate type snacks aplenty (although don't plan on a full meal type operation). So don't spend the afternoon alone, bring a friend or spouse and join in the merriment.
Some challenges such as end of each quarter scores, a 50-50 option with up to three winners, and plenty of card decks, cribbage boards - you choice of tables. For those who wish to support - we ask for a donation of $5 for the 50-50, not required that you join. This day is not a pot luck, so you don't have to bring anything other than a few dollars for libations and if you wish to participate in the 50-50.
Bring stories of your military service - what was the best day and what was the worst day you experienced during your service. What made for a good leader, and who was that individual who made your life miserable.
Plan on arriving around 4 PM, and stay as long as you like. We will remain open until the game end. We already have the team to set up and take down, an amateur bartender (do not harass - he is working for free), so no work is required on your part.
For those who were unable to attend last year's Super Bowl party day, you did miss a fun time. Over 13 folks visited, some only for enough time to grab a bite to eat and say "Hi". All are welcome. Come regardless of the weather. If the snow reaches 4 feet or more, we will send a snowmobile over for you.
We will ask for you to contribute $5.00 for the 50-50 challenge, to help offset the cost of the foodstuffs - but this is not required. If enough folks show up, we may be able to split the 50-50 two or more ways. Bring a spouse or veteran friend. Dress for the weather.
Don't spend the Super Bowl day alone, and our Post 501 will be a lot less expensive than the local taverns and even better - filled with folks like you. It's a fun day at your Legion.
For headcount, please send send a note utilizing the "Contact Us" tab on our website if you just might show up. Those who don't will be talked about. :) See you all there !
