7 PM Business meeting.
The December Post 501 Business meeting will be a special Christmas oriented, extraordinary evening. All Sons of the American Legion (SAL) members are invited and strongly encouraged to attend. The Post 501 Auxiliary also will be in attendance.
There will be a welcoming program, and some shared ideas of programs for the Post 501 SAL members in the next 2017 year. Maybe a Fall Saturday afternoon football/cribbage/euchre gathering in the clubhouse, with free snacks and libations.
These are some ideas which may come to fruition, if the interest is there. In addition, for those who don't especially like to attend business meetings, there is no reason why an SAL member can't participate in the fun stuff. Keep up with either the Post monthly Newsletter and/or this website for further activities.
The Post 501 meetings are always conducted on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, at the Post 501 Clubhouse, 105 Dempsey Road, here in Madison. Meeting begins at 7:00 pm, usually finishing about an hour. An informal gathering follows for those who wish to socialize with fellow veterans. Stories of past military experiences, and sometimes even tall tales/lies, are shared.
Business of the American Legion Severson-Cairns Post #501 is conducted at this meeting. Plans are made for future services for veterans and families; fundraising is a continuous critical need.
Plan on attending. Our meetings are open to any Legionnaire past or present, who have an interest in just what goes on in "post active" and "reserve service". Come and see veterans who, like yourself have marched, floated or flown on active duty for at least one day or more, during times of conflict. Served in or near combat zones, in support activities or have a book of questions that need to be answered. We want to hear about you, the part you played....... all the details from those who were really there. Hidden and amazing. Share with others the flowery, the stinky, the good, the bad and absurd. Come, raise a toast to our country and the part you and others played to keep it free and safe! As you know FREEDOM is not free. It costs dearly! SAL members are also always invited in attendance. Your presence is especially desired.
What goes on here at the Legion is all about you and stays at the legion! It really helps all veterans, who have served, and for those continuing to serve.
Next meeting scheduled: Wednesday, January 11, 2017
